Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals and objectives. After establishing the goals of each client, the music therapist creates interventions that use singing, moving to, and/or listening to music to target each goal. Possible areas include cognitive, sensorimotor, speech/language, socio-emotional. Progress is carefully documented after every session and goals are re-established every six months. The improved skills are transferred into other areas of the client’s life to help overall functioning.
